Meeting Peaceways Pet Crematorium
In 2018, the team at Peaceways Pet Crematorium came to Addfield to plan the future of their pet cremation business. Peaceways Pet Crematorium, part of Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare, is one of the longest established pet cremation services in the UK. For decades, it has given families a compassionate, professional farewell for their pets built on trust and dignity.
Raystede animal sanctuary, based in Lewes, East Sussex, gives families a rare place to remember their companions. Their dedicated remembrance garden is a space of reflection and comfort and the peaceful surroundings of the sanctuary which helps them grieve in peace.
They knew exactly what they wanted
By 2018, Peaceways Pet Crematorium saw the demand for their dignified service was rising and their existing equipment was ageing. The team knew they needed a modern pet cremator without ever dropping the standard of service their customers had come to expect. Alongside upgrading the cremator, they also wanted to move the operation directly onto the Raystede site while keeping the remembrance garden where it was.
Jeff and the team at Peaceways were clear from the start. “We can’t have downtime. I need something that is easy to use, easy to maintain and I need support when I need it, whether that’s in person or over the phone.”
Going the extra mile
We worked closely with Peaceways to deliver a solution around both the immediate need and long term support which ran well beyond simply supplying a machine, it included:
– Site surveys and feasibility assessments
– Operation guidance and planning of the facility
– Return on investment
– Specification and system design
– Installation and commissioning
– Regular ongoing service and maintenance
Peaceways were in the driving seat
Taking a consultative approach meant Peaceways could make informed decisions about the future of the business, knowing the new facility would be ready to grow with them.
The Addfield PET200 cremator was chosen and installed shortly after in early 2019. From day one, the PET200 was easy to operate and maintain and has the ability to handle up to 7 pets a day.
After sales support is just as important
Addfield supported Peaceways over the years that followed the installation, with maintenance, operator training, bespoke remains trays, technical guidance and honest & regular conversations about where to take things next. For the team at Peaceways, the ongoing support mattered just as much as the equipment itself.
Returning to Addfield for another PET200
Peaceways has grown from handling roughly 15 pets a week to now more than 60 a week, with demand still rising so much so that it became clear more capacity was needed for the next phase. Having seen first hand how reliable both the PET200 and the support from Addfield had been, Peaceways knew there was only one company to reach back out to. In 2026, we installed a second PET200 cremator, doubling capacity so that they could keep meeting demand without lowering the standards their customers expect.
The story of Addfield and Peaceways is really about long term partnerships built on trust, reliability and shared ambition. From the first consultation and installation in 2019 to expansion in 2026, Peaceways continue to grow looking after families across East Sussex with dependable Addfield machines and support.
Fantastic Review
The team at Peaceways continue to be thrilled with the 2 PET200 cremators and we look forward to the future of the business, and supporting them still. “Whether it’s equipment, training, maintenance support, bespoke operational solutions or helping us plan for the future, the Addfield team have always delivered.” – Jeff, Peaceways.
